  1. Hey Jason,

I was shown your blog from a co-worker of mine (pretty crazy story actually) but just wanted to leave a comment saying that I think your blog is pretty sweet and I have book marked it. I live in Florida now and have been home brewing now for ~1 yr and have been wanting to try some of the stuff that you have documented here but have yet to do it. I look forward to following up on things that you do in the future and wish you the best of luck in your doctoral studies.

    • Thanks Alex, much appreciated!

Glad to hear you like the blog and I’ll definitely will be posting more experiments in the future. I’ve bookmarked your blog as well. As for my doctoral studies – that is long done (thank god!) Defended my PhD in 2005 and have been working on my postdoc doing mostly HIV research (and beer related research of course.

What’s the pretty crazy story you were talking about?

  2. Hey Thanks for the reply!

Sorry about my misunderstanding about the PHD stuff, oops, what you do now though is pretty awesome though! Im digging everything that you’re doing and cant wait to see how the brettanomyces home brew comes out. 🙂

As for how I came across your blog is I have only been home brewing for a little while and I guess some how my coworker’s mom is somehow related to you down the line and knew of your blog somehow. As you can see it was pretty random, but it got to him and he knew I would be interested in so he showed me and he was right lol. so yea, keep up the awesome posts and Ill do what I can to spread the good word of your experiments 🙂

    Have a great day!

    Alex

    • Your co-worker’s Mom is distantly related to me? How did this come about and who is this individual?

You have peaked my curiosity!! Pretty funny story!

    Jason,

Your blog is very well written and formatted! I appreciate your well documented experiments, and they really bring clarity to topics that are widely discussed, but hardly proven or demonstrated. Keep it up! I’m curious if you have experimented at all with water chemistry and its impact on beer style flavors. Its widely discussed, but I have not seen or experienced anything definitive.
